area: 28 500 m²
The areal of the former cloth factory ‘Tiroler Loden’ was transformed into a housing district, represented by three housing quarters. The courtyards serve as public spaces, given their distinctive character by respective color coding. The primary colors yellow, red and blue are expressed not only in the choice of material but also the selection of greenery and create – depending on the season – an intensive color play. The design derives from the vertical stripes on the façade, which should resemble a barcode, projected onto the ground. Through the implementation of different tree and bush structures, shrub beds, lawn area, lounging furniture and play area, the courtyard is designed to be intensively used. Groves of trees are planted in the open spaces in between the apartment buildings, according to the theme ‘habitation in the park’.
