AQUALUX THERMAL SPA | Fohnsdorf (Styria) > Client: Therme Fohnsdorf Errichtungs- und Betriebs GmbH > Size: 36.478 m² > Design/Implementation: Monsberger Gartenarchitektur – Completion: 2007 > Open Space Design – Project Description: The strictly-formal structure of architecture is taken to the outside and continued with modeling. The result is an interplay of colors, both in plants and in the materials used in the concept. In the building area dominate dark pavements, which will end with wooden terraces. Individual areas are adopted by a black rubble stone fields that are planted with red-leaved trees. The fortified formal part of the spa passes in the moving modeled part which is determined by a visualized rock vein (a reminder of the former importance of mining for the region). In contrast to the formal language of architecture the trees in the south are planted in loose formation. It provides the contrast with the dark facades of the buildings.
